For those who have interviewed for a Staff Attorney at a Circuit Court, can you discuss the details/requirements of the writing exercise? I have an interview coming up and not sure how to prepare.

I don't think you really need to prepare much. Know basic summary judgment/dismissal standards. They give you all of the basic data; you just need to create something coherent out of it. (At least, that's how it worked at my SAO.) But most offices take it very seriously, so do NOT half-ass it.

How do you prepare for a screener for this type of job?

Realistically my reason for applying is "Because times be tough and I need to take what I can get," but what are some good reasons to want the job/to say I want the job? Is it enough to say "I have a large interest in ___ law and I hope to learn more about appellate proceedings by coming here?"
