The person probably got a screening interview and got a ding letter afterwards. If that's the case, then they have probably reached their decision and the calls and letter are going out right now. Has anyone else who only received a first round interview received a ding letter yet?

I know people who got dinged after the screener way earlier than January.

I called and they said the hiring committee met last week, but the list is not yet finished and they have to meet again. As of Friday 2/8 , no calls had been made. She said another two weeks!

Is being fluent in Spanish seen as a plus?

It's always a plus in almost any public sector job.

Seriously, these calls better go out NEXT week for sure. I can't wait 2 more weeks. I've been waiting over 3 months now. They actually told me during my panel that it would be late December, then when I called they said early to mid January, now its "well, when we get to it".

Not at all...unless you want to go to Appeals. Trial Ad/Mock Trial is a must, not Moot Court. You need to take a Trial Ad course to be certified to try cases in Municipal Court, aside from the basic skills learned from it that you need. Remember that Moot Court is appellate level, not trial. If you walk into Municipal Court and treat it like Moot Court, you will get eaten alive.

Moot Court is somewhat useful since you get to do some arguing, but you won't be doing much, if any, writing in the Trial Division. Also, the style of the oral argument in Moot Court is pretty different. Moot Court is WAY more reserved, slower paced, and actually requires use of case law. You may, in fact, get yelled at by the judge if you whip out case law in Municipal Court.

So you were told 1 week, someone else said 2 weeks... do we think this means hopefully next week but definitely by the following week?

So, re: grades, as long as you jump the 3.0 hurdle, you won't raise an eyebrow, right?

Of those of us waiting to hear about full-time ADA positions, how many live in or are from the Philadelphia area? I am not - but I was just curious about most other people.

Next week, I'm doing an "informational interview" with an alumna who is a former Philly ADA (Appeals Unit) now working for a Philly BigLaw firm. Any suggestions on what to ask/say?

Why don't you compile all of your questions into one message and we can try to answer everything at once.

If you're trying to get info about the DA's office, ask about the work environment, case load, typical career paths, hiring preferences, training, etc.
