Absolutey Stupid Question

Postby kalvano » Wed Sep 28, 2011 3:02 pm

If I want to do a JAG summer internship, do I have to join the military? Or is their summer internship program separate from service requirements?

You will have to be trained in military warfare in case you have to defend a soldier in litigation in Afghanistan. I read about a guy who had to go to Tora Bora and be a defense attorney for a Marine who was undergoing trial for public urination in a Taliban camp.

just kidding.

You can do a summer internship without being in the military, though I'm not sure why you would. For 1L, sure. For 2L, I'd only do it if I planned to join JAG after graduation.
