Some schools are much better than others. Mine was atrociously bad. There was some knowledge, but it was very limited. I now really believe that you have a much better chance of clerking / getting a better clerkship coming from, say, Chicago or UVa than NYU or Penn. It's all about connections and those schools seem to work at it.

Oh yes, our clerkship process was abysmal. The woman running it knows no one. We had some high-powered professors on our clerkship committee who made calls but that was it.

Having just gone through the clerkship wringer myself, I find the article to be pretty spot-on within the spirit intended. As do most of my friends who got clerkships.
