DOT did seem to have a high callback number, but at least we should know something by the end of this week (hopefully).

My inside source tells me they have made decisions... not sure if offers have gone out yet, but am fairly certain I am not getting one...

Any idea who the selections generally were?

DOT probably needs to contact references prior to making offers.

Have any DOL offers gone out? They had said end of November/early December, so I'm wondering if anyone has updates.

I haven't heard anything yet. A gut feeling tells me that if I didn't get an offer before Thanksgiving, I'm more or less out of the running. :(

Yeah...I'm starting to think that too. During my interview though, they said their original goal had been offers by the end of November, but that they were beginning to think that early December would be more realistic, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Did they mention how many people they were taking or ask for additional materials? I really hope we get it!

I think they said something like 2 in the regional offices (Kansas City and I believe Dallas) and 4 or 5 in the DC headquarters. No, they didn't ask me for additional materials. I went in, to be honest, thinking I was just having a first-round interview, but they told me it was my final interview (i.e. they don't do second rounds).

Is the consensus that reference checks are usually the last step before an agency makes offers to people? I had an interview and callback with an agency and they just contacted my references. I know that the DOJ calls references as a formality before offers, and I'm hoping that applies across the board.

(This isnt an agency that has been mentioned in this thread yet. It's tiny, so I dont want to out myself by naming it)

Has anyone heard about offers from the OCC? I had a callback in late October but haven't heard anything.

Nope, nothing. Hoping people will post here once news starts going out so that I can stop hoping against hope.

Assuming that the committee has made the selections (as someone previously said), I have a theory as to why they haven't made any offers. From the Attorney Honors website:
At the conclusion of interviewing, a committee composed of Senior Department attorneys meet to review applications and select the new honors attorneys class. After approval from the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel, the Honors Attorney Program Manager extends offers to candidates for up to nine positions. Offers are generally extended by early December.
Maybe the Honors Attorney Program Manager is waiting for approval from GC and Deputy GC.

A reasonable theory. Thus far, we have insider updates (this Monday) that selections had been made. As of last Tues, insider updates stated that they were "currently selecting canidates."

...So yeah, probably at the approval stage. Maybe reference calls.

Nervous! Hope to hear something soon!

I am guessing that GC approval is just a formality, something that should take a few minutes, not a few days. This is just my (uninformed) impression of things, but I'm thinking it's not good news if the decisions were made yesterday am and we still haven't heard. The reference theory does sound more plausible. If they intend to inform all 9 selectees at roughly the same time, then they have to finish talking to 27 people first (3 references each) and that could take a while.

Can anyone confirm that their references have been contacted?

Was trying to avoid being the one to say this (and didn't want to ruin anyone's Thanksgiving), but I can confirm that at least one DOT offer was made and accepted last week. I don't know if offers are being given out one at a time or in chunks as they move down the line (or wait on references), or if no one who has received an offer wants to risk saying anything (or just doesn't know about or frequent TLS - it does happen). FWIW, references were called and offer was made in close proximity.

Does anyone have recent news from DOI? I know they sent out a first round of rejections via email in October, and were still reviewing the remaining applications as of three weeks ago.
