Yea I chose Skadden LA for this very reason - they still have amazing lawyers (Thomas Nolan, Richard Marmaro, Jason Russell, Jack DiCanio, etc), still do amazing work (http://www.skadden.com/Index.cfm?conten ... focusID=90) and I get to be in a smaller office (better for developing personal relationships, IMO) with significantly better weather and a cheaper COL.
My point is that satellite offices aren't necessarily a lesser choice. It can be a great option depending on your interests.
