I might be having a major reading comp failure, but we get our interview date notifications by fax?!

Yep. No idea why fax versus, say, email.

Does anyone know if you interview for specific "sub-components" within the component (i.e. Appellate or Federal Programs within Civil) or do you interview with the whole component? If it is a "sub-component," when do we find out which one?

Has anyone received their interview information yet?

My info is based on last year (when Civil hired close to 40, versus 3 this year), so take it with a grain of salt. My friend who interviewed did interview for sub-components within Civil and was notified which ones ahead of time. Rampant speculation: I'm not sure why Civil would do the same this year, since 3 hires obviously is less than the number of possible sub-components that you could rank. Have they all gotten the approval to hire and just have to fight it out amongst themselves who gets to do so?

Not me.

I haven't but a friend of mine who is in DC did. I think she submitted it over the weekend. I figure it was easier to handle hers because she is local.

Has anyone interviewed with EOIR yet and care to share which cities are going to have clerks next year (The cities you were able to rank at the interview are the ones that will have clerks)

Does anyone know how many people EOIR selected for interviews?

The DOJ HP website says they anticipate interviewing 600 to 700 candidates total but this number seems abnormally high given the number of slots.

How are interviews going for everyone? Anyone get decision timelines from their interviewers?

Mid-to-late November for all components is what I've heard.

Did anyone contact your component's arc before your interview to get the name of your interviewer? Does that seem like info. they'd give us?

Anyone else get the feeling that DOJ is interviewing a TON of candidates for the few open spots? The whole process this year is really frustrating.

The component I interviewed with was interviewing 5 candidates per spot. Doesn't seem too crazy (though obviously more than I'd prefer).

I interviewed with a component that is interviewing 18 people for 3 spots.

Did anyone else hear that decisions would be made by early November? My component mentioned that, but that seems like an incredibly fast turn around since interviews are going on through this week.

I assume that EOIR, who is interviewing all over the US, will be interviewing a lot of candidates.

I'm a 2L now, and I plan to apply for the EOIR next year. I am wondering if the individual courts you identify conduct the interviews. If so, do you think it is helpful to have done a volunteer internship at that court in the past? Thank you!

I get the feeling that past experience working at EOIR is important, but which court you work at is not, since you wont be interviewing for a particular court (just for a spot in the program and then they'll place you).

I was told sometime around Thanksgiving.

And to the above poster about all the interviewees -- my component was interviewing approximately 5 people for every slot.
