absolutely. they'll know why you're canceling and will appreciate that you're not wasting their time if you're not serious about working for them. given the short notice i personally would probably call them and tell them over the phone, but an email would work just fine if you want to avoid any awkward explanations as to why you're canceling.

OP: thanks! just wanted to make sure it wasn't a major faux pas. Just called and they were completely fine with it.
