Calling recruiting office to get update. Bad idea?

Calling recruiting office to get update. Bad idea?

its been a week and i want to get an update. will calling to get an update on timeframe annoy them or show them that i am interested?

If you have a reason (deadline at another firm, etc.) then go ahead. Otherwise no.
