Offers w/vault ranges: 3 - None in the V100 - all of the "other firms." Big firms in their own respective markets, but not really in big legal markets though.
How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback? Who knows? With the amount of mass mails I sent out, I have no clue. Every day, my mailbox was full of rejections.
Thank-you notes sent: Definitely. It became clear in the south, you must send them after a callback. I found it a good idea to send them even after screeners to the southern firms.

I disagree. I received five offers with southern firms without ever sending a thank you note.

It's not a blanket rule for the south. I don't think it's very important for say Atlanta, however, I would definitely send some to Nashville. Of course, if you have great grades from a great school - thank you notes mean very little. But if you're struggling for a job, definitely send them in the smaller southern markets.

School: T30
Market(s): Midwest
Approximate class rank: T10%
Law review: Yes
Work experience: Yes -- 2yrs Engineer
IP background: Yes
Anything else that might have an impact? (diversity, etc. or whatever, really): Unusual work experience (in a good way)
Screening Interviews: 23
Mass mails: maybe 5, rejected or didn't hear back from all
Callbacks received: 2
Callbacks accepted: 2
Offers w/vault ranges: 1 NLJ250
How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback? maybe 3
Thank-you notes sent: Yes, both screening and CB...via email

Taking offer at a midwest NLJ250 Firm. I didn't have a great screen to CB ratio. I think this is because I really underestimated how important the interview is. But I don't think any amount of extra practice interviews would have helped me. Looking back, I think what really would have helped was going out and talking to people. In other words, just working on being more personable in general.

School: T25
Market(s): D.C., NYC, Midwest, PA
Approximate class rank: Median
Law review: No Journal. Fuck that noise.
Work experience: None
IP background: No
Anything else that might have an impact? Joint Degree, Minority
Screening Interviews: 25 from OCI and Job Fairs. Mostly job fair but they are pretty much useless.
Mass mails:Countless. Callback interviews from 3
Callbacks received: 7. 2 from job fairs (rejected at 1 on hold at another). 2 from OCI. 3 from mass mail (Accepting mass mail offer. On hold at 1. Rejected from other). Firms were mostly small markets in which I had a connection through my family or my fiancee's family. Probably only way a lot of these firms considered me since a lot of the places I had callbacks I had never lived before.
Callbacks accepted: 7
Offers w/vault ranges: 1. Biggest firm in tertiary market. Market paying but market is low. Non-vault.
How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback?: 3. Going to withdraw from these as I would prefer to live in the city I have an offer.
Thank-you notes sent: Not usually. Asked a bunch of people and they pretty much agreed they were annoying. Only sent them to recruiters since they seem to appreciate it and Partners on the hiring committee.

I feel for everyone that struck out. Best bet is to just get an internship or job and steadily work at that place and there's a good chance you'll get an offer. Don't have many LS friends because I don't like LS people but of the 5 or so I have 3 of them are getting offers this way. Not Biglaw but after you get over the blow to your ego you can make it work for you. Obviously much easier in a big city.

School: T2
Market(s): Midwest, South
Approximate class rank: Top 20
Law review: LR, Moot Court
Work experience: One year (political)
IP background: No
Anything else that might have an impact? 1L SA in secondary market
Screening Interviews: 8 from OCI, 15 more from job fairs
Mass mails: ~100
Callbacks received: 7
Callbacks accepted: 7
Offers w/vault ranges: 0 (3 offers from NLJ250, still waiting on 1 NLJ250 and 2 in small markets)
How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback?: 30+
Thank-you notes sent: Yes, to recruiters and attorneys. Might not be necessary for those looking in the South/Midwest from T14, but it's pretty standard for non-T14.

Taking a job in a Secondary market, feel very fortunate. Classmates aren't doing horrible, but aren't doing great either. Obviously at a T2, your odds are stacked against you, but finding a job is not impossible. You have to do very well and be very persistent and diligent in your job search. Outside of top 1/3 is really struggling at my school.

School: UT
Market(s): Texas, Atl, NYC
Approximate class rank: Guessing Top 33%-40%
Law review: Secondary
Work experience: 3 years in financial svcs
IP background: No
Anything else that might have an impact? (diversity, etc. or whatever, really): LGBT, minority
Screening Interviews: 17-OCI, 17-job fairs
Mass mails: 20-30 (2 responses for phone interviews)
Callbacks received: 13
Callbacks accepted: 12
Offers w/vault ranges: 1 V30, 1 V70, 1 NLJ250
How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback? 3 as of now (prob going to pull the plug soon)
Thank-you notes sent: Sometimes (my first offer I sent notes only to those I connected better with, my second offer I sent one to all, and my last I sent none). Conclusion: it really doesn't make a damn difference at most places, but I would try and gauge how "traditional" the firms are before outright ignoring the TY note protocol.

Callbacks accepted: 5 (accepted all of them initially then canceled one) 1 V10, 1 V25, 3 V50, 1 Midsize firm

Woah, I think most would agree that the number of callbacks and some of the offers you've received is pretty fantastic ITE for someone just a little above median at GW with no law review. Any more ideas about what may have gotten you so many callbacks, and more importantly swung interviews your way? Either way, congrats!
