I was just being sarcastic when I suggested we add a line for Thank-You notes, but apparently it has been catching on. Thank you for taking my advice seriously even when it was unnecessary.

Only got 2 interviews out of OCI, but made my interviews count (I guess I interview really well). No nepotism/Daddy is a partner, I just peppered every employer at OCI and hoped for the best. I think my success comes down to staying in my home market for school and the weight that secondary markets place on ties.

I did this too and have a friend who had 2 cbs/1 offer. When you have less, it almost gives you more motivation to prepare. High stakes but the feeling of dodging the bullet is one that will probably stay with me for life. It's humbling.

My very first few exam grades were very low, by the end of the year grades were quite high, but first grades on my transcript are low so maybe that stuck out. I've been out of school a long time. I'm definitely not aggressive, but I'm friendly and easy going and I think that came across in my interviews.

How many firms just didn't get back with you with a rejection/callback? Who knows? With the amount of mass mails I sent out, I have no clue. Every day, my mailbox was full of rejections.
Thank-you notes sent: Definitely. It became clear in the south, you must send them after a callback. I found it a good idea to send them even after screeners to the southern firms.

Yeah, I had some bites in Chicago but I had some good reasons to be in another major Midwest market and the offer I accepted is from my first choice firm. Most of the people I know from Illinois who have biglaw offers have Chicago offers: it's definitely our primary market and top 10% should be able to get there.

If you're top 10% at Illinois you better want Chicago. I was top 5% at Illinois, wanted a different market but could only get an offer in Chicago.
