Any news on offers? If so, when was your cb?

When I called to arrange my CB, the recruiter seemed to indicate that, at least at my school (DCNG) they were waiting to send out callbacks until they had met with everyone from my school with a callback. So, I'm hoping that's why I haven't heard anything since my tuesday callback, but that may just be wishful thinking. I do think I was definitely among the first from my school.

I am poster from above who got offer. School theory may be true. All offers I know of are for HLS, and it is likely people wrapped up CBs yesterday.

What are cbs like at simpson? I saw they're having me meet with 5-6 people, more than the standard 3-4.

Last year I met with 5 people, 2 partners and 3 senior associates. The senior associates took me out to lunch. It went very well and enjoyed the overall CB experience compared to other CBs I went to so much I accepted their offer when it came. They were pretty relaxed and non-intimidating, spending most of their time selling the firm than not.

Working there this summer was an interesting, humbling experience. I had more projects and work that I expected in the beginning but I managed to get through them, getting yelled at only a couple times. I had to pull in some late nights when I was helping out with corporate deals. Otherwise, the last half of the summer was fairly routine and not too overwhelming. The firm was flexible enough to let me try different practices. I found out by the end of the summer that transactional isn't for me - too highly unpredictable with chaotic hours. Some of the transactional associates and partners are just too nuts for me, LOL.

I have no regrets choosing this firm over the others.

How did you manage to get yelled at as a summer?

I think all or most of the summers got yelled on at least once. Working on corporate deals will do that, lol. I got yelled at one time when I didn't finish doing research in time for a stock option deal. In defense, I was juggling way too many projects at once with no clear direction from anyone. I mean, didn't anyone realized I was only a summer when they dumped all this on me in the first couple week? Jeez! :)

Still, it was fun while humbling at the same time.

I was explicitly told during my cb that offers are made by school. I think they might even schedule callbacks from each school close together to accommodate this.

Ridiculous, I'm almost ready to call bullshit. I summered at STB and couldn't even wring a single negative comment out of them in my mid or final reviews, it was laughable the extent they went not to outright criticize me. I absolutely never heard of anyone getting yelled at. If you did, I'd be seriously worried that you've messed something up in a bad way and will be remembered for it. How did they dump stuff on you in the first week? My assigning attorney set us up with two projects, most of them were fairly slow, all of them were manageable if you just asked questions. Then they were really flexible in assigning us to new projects as things come up, did you just not have the nerve to tell them you were busy or something? My mind is seriously blown that you got yelled at. Which group did that happen in?

in that case, maybe this will help some people - CLS 2L, CB during the week of 8/22, offer call a couple of days later.

I don't think this is always the case. I have friends from my school who got offers a week ago, but I haven't even had my callback yet.

I also summered at STB and didn't even hear of anyone getting yelled at. People overwhelmingly had a great experience. I don't know what the person who got yelled at is talking about.

I also summered at Simpson....

Screw "almost ready to call bullshit." This kid is absolutely full of shit.

Everyone I spoke to had only great things to say about the Firm and their experiences.

Do you really have nothing better to do than mislead innocent 2Ls?

Also a summer this year (and surprised to see so many others here!).

I basically am having trouble believing that any of us got yelled at, let alone that most people did. STB was a great place to be a summer, and it seemed like a great place to be an associate as well. Long hours as with any corporate-driven firm, but associates seemed to have good attitudes despite that. People are treated well.

Any of the summers have a guess on how many hours you think associates bill here? I am deciding on an offer, and when I went in for the CB, someone told me that s/he billed under 2000 hours more than once and never took any heat for it. This was more lax than I expected to hear.

I think they said around 1,700 was the Firm average, but I assume this must include attorneys on part-time leave. And IIRC, 1,800 (including pro bono) is the minimum to receive a bonus. Most folks I talked to in litigation aimed to bill around 2,000. Might be a tad higher in corporate.
