Basically have 2 choices at this point if I decide on LA. I want lit exclusively, and training/substantive responsibility/ability to not hate work is more important to me than prestige/exit opportunities/etc.

(1) Small (25ish lawyers) satellite office of a V50. Almost 1:1 partner-associate ratio at this point. The office is new and seems to be in expansion/rapid growth mode. Loved the people, who are almost all lateral associates/partners or clerkship hires and who seem very smart/competent. People seem genuinely happy and not overworked. They made a big point of the small size of the office and the increased amount of substantive work that this would create for associates (both because of low leverage and because they are too small to do massive cases and massive doc review projects).

(2) Quinn. It's a band 1 litigation firm, and people either love it or hate it. I mean, it's Quinn, little more need be said.

I'll just step in and cut off the Quinn meme before someone else can do it (because it annoys me)

Some crap happens, but Quinn is still there.

Likely. They took 5 summers last year, though, and definitely seem to be growing that office, so any 1:1 ratio will be short-lived (will probably get closer to 1:2 soon, closer to the 1:4 ratio most of the other offices have). Great office if you are interested in the particular work the partners there do: entertainment, insurance, and some general complex lit.

Isn't this more like Dechert LA?

OP, how did you feel about Quinn? Seems like you are naturally more inclined towards the V50 based on your enthusiastic response alone.
