Not the above anon, but I'm an ORM who went to SEMJF. 8 screeners, 4 CBs, 2 offers so far. And I struck out at OCI.Void wrote:Was anyone else confused by this:followed by this:Anonymous User wrote:17 Screeners from OCI, 17 from minority job fairs?Anonymous User wrote:Non-URM

Also LGBT/Disabled aren't URMs in the street definition, but I know they are welcome at most minority job fairs.KamaalTheAbstract wrote:Most likely an Asian. Oh cool. Thanks, and congrats on the offers after the OCI strikeout! That must feel awesome.Anonymous User wrote: Not the above anon, but I'm an ORM who went to SEMJF. 8 screeners, 4 CBs, 2 offers so far. And I struck out at OCI.

They are minority job fairs, not URM job fairs. So a lot of non-AA/Mex/PR/NA show up.

I admit that when the poster said non-URM I immediately assumed white hetero aryan male. Massive logic fail on my part!Grizz wrote:They are minority job fairs, not URM job fairs. So a lot of non-AA/Mex/PR/NA show up.

It feels amazing. I had some mass mail CBs too. Never expected to strike out at OCI. Good thing I was prepared.Void wrote:Oh cool. Thanks, and congrats on the offers after the OCI strikeout! Got off the boat Monday. I was:
MVPB, Top 33-40%
Work Experience: Kind of (1/2 a year & summers)
URM: Nope.
Markets: LA, SF, Denver
22 screeners / 20 mass-mails
6 CBs
2 Rejections
1 I withrew before decision
2 Outstanding
But....got my top choice. Was starting to worry. Good luck, folks.

How long did you wait until you got your offer?Anonymous User wrote:Got off the boat Monday. I was:

General question: If I've followed up with the recruiter already, and it's been a little over a week since that follow-up but 5 weeks since my callback, should I follow up again?

I wouldn't follow up again unless you have another offer to tell them about. Wait another week, in my opinion. I followed up with the other firms today (4 days after offer) to tell them about the offer and immediately got those 2 rejections. But I anticipate if you recently spoke to the recruiter there is no reason to follow up, unless you just want to reaffirm your interest in the firm.

Sigh, phone call ding from my top choice. I was so excited to see a 2 minute voice-mail, only to get shut down. Still waiting on one other firm, and my continual follow-ups to 100 mailings in July are my only hope.

Do you mind sharing which region your offer was from? I'm waiting from firms in the LA / SF regions.

Re: No Offers Yet- All Aboard the USS Worried
LA and SF is super rough. The offer was from Denver. But the withdrawal I had was from an LA firm, who said that they had a small class and didn't want to put out too many offers at once, so I would imagine that is somewhat the stage most LA and SF firms are at if you've already had a CB with them.Anonymous User wrote:Got it -- thank you!Anonymous User wrote:

Yeah, phone rejections suck. I got two of them, but one time the partner told me "tell me when you get back in Denver and we'll get lunch." What could that be about?Anonymous User wrote:That is just cruel on their part. Damn.Anonymous User wrote:Sigh, phone call ding from my top choice. phone call ding?! Wow. I guess it's considerate and more personal than a letter, but they've got to know it gets your hopes up briefly.Anonymous User wrote:Sigh, phone call ding from my top choice. A voicemail ding is just TTT. I took the one phone call ding that I got for 1L summer and turned it into an offer for 2L summer. It really depends on the situation, but I took it as an indication of how tough a decision it was and an indication that the people at the firm wanted me to keep in touch. I kept in touch with the people I liked at that office, and by the time 2L OCI rolled around, the interview process for me was really just a formality.
