Is a "bump" a rejection letter?

was your CB last week or before? thinking of going with JD?
Quite a while ago, don't want to get too specific. (I don't visit TLS frequently). Definitely leaning towards accepting.

I can't remember who told me, but I was under the impression the committee was meeting yesterday or today.

All in all it was a very laid back and great experience. I really enjoyed talking with everybody I met, and I walked out relatively sure that I had done enough to secure an offer.

The best advice that I can give is to tell you to stay enthusiastic and poised all day. I focused on keeping my energy up throughout every interview and was complemented on it after that fact. Of course, a lot of that goes hand in hand with how much you want the job. I really wanted the job, and I was really excited to learn about the various attorneys' practice areas. Try not to be nervous. Nerves weren't really a problem for me with the people I met. They were all interesting people, and after we broke the ice, I had good conversations with each of them.

This may not need to be stated, but listen to the attorneys while they are answering your questions and ask follow up questions when appropriate. Also, don't be afraid to look around the office briefly as you enter and ask a question or comment on something you see. I bet I spent at least 5 minutes of times talking about something non-job/school related by doing that in each of my interviews.

It goes without saying that you should be prepared with some basic knowledge of each attorney with whom you'll be meeting. Similarly, know about the firm, and as others have said, be prepared to discuss "One Firm World Wide", the New Lawyers Group, and the flexibility of the summer program to allow you to explore different practice areas. I would NOT ask about work/life balance. Some attorneys might not care about discussing that topic, but I can guarantee that it could kill your interview with others.

One other important thing I almost forgot, emphasize your commitment to the area. Have nice things to say about Cleveland. I, for one, grew up here, love the city, and am totally committed to establishing my career here.

Questions I would be prepared to answer: Why Jones Day? What can you bring to us (I would emphasize team work, creative thinking, interpersonal skills, etc when answering that)? Why law school? Can you tell me a bit about yourself? What do you think life will be like as an associate at Jones Day? What do you know about our firm? What are your interests outside of work and school?

Remember that you are visiting the JD office because they think you can do the work. This is now mostly about, "do I like this guy/girl?" and whether they could tolerate being locked in a conference room with you for 12 hours. Show that you're a confident, likeable person, and you'll be fine. Lastly, I had one interview (with a partner nonetheless) which I felt didn't go great. It wasn't horrible, but we never hit the conversational groove I like to hit in every interview. I worried about that every day until I received my offer. Moral of the story, don't dwell on a bad answer are questionable interview.

Good luck, and post here if you get an offer. I would be interested in meeting people who will also be in my SA class.

Ug, I'm waiting on JD pretty intently (NY office). Had my CB just over a week ago and I'm crossing my fingers. I was gushing with enthusiasm for the firm, spoke a lot about the New Lawyer's Group, their particular strength in my prospective area of interest, how much I can relate and mesh with the culture of "one firm worldwide". I even told them pretty emphatically that the firm is my top choice for all those reasons (and was entirely sincere in saying this). My resume was obviously satisfactory or else they wouldn't have called me in the first place (since I was invited for a CB directly from a mass mail), so I'm not sure what else I could have done. Everyone was very friendly, and I felt like I was clicking with each person I met. If this one doesn't come through, I will have no clue what I did wrong.
