Within the last half hour, "Selected for Further Consideration"

MVP top 5%, law review
Also, I didn't get an e-mail about it; I just checked the website.

"The Department of Justice will issue a separate e-mail message to the candidates selected by each hiring component. Your application was referred to all components you designated as employment preferences on your application. If you do not receive a message from a specific component, then you were not selected by that organization for further consideration."

Re: DOJ SLIP
So now that we've received an e-mail notifying us that we're under further consideration, does that start the clock ticking for how much time we have to send in materials? For example, I received the e-mail from Civil; the requirements say that I need to send in a writing sample/resume "Not later than four business days following notification of selection for consideration for employment." Is that like...four days from now?

Has anyone gotten multiple antitrust emails or can you only be under consideration for one office?

I got 2. It's unclear how those two ended up considering me instead of the others. I don't think they were my top 2 choices, but I can't remember.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone gotten multiple antitrust emails or can you only be under consideration for one office?

Re: DOJ SLIP
Did everyone who got the previous EOIR email get the new EOIR Avue email? If so, it looks like what they want submitted according to the website is marginally different from the previous email. This seems strange, no?

Re: DOJ SLIP
You will get a call from someone to schedule a ~30 min phone interview. Maybe for those GW/GULC/American/others they do interviews in person?Anonymous User wrote:Have an interview with ATR-DC. Are these usually in person or over the telephone?

I can't speak for myself, but one of my classmates apparently already has an offer from a regional office.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have any field office Antitrust interview invites?Anonymous User wrote:Have an interview with ATR-DC. Are these usually in person or over the telephone?
Edit: There was no interview, they offered the person based solely on the application

Re: DOJ SLIP
From experience last year, if you're still at 'application received' as of this point, then there's a 95% chance that you're out of the game. The only way that wouldn't be true is if you applied to some obscure division that hasn't gotten to looking over candidates yet (i.e. a random USAO).
There is still Honors next year, so go hustle and find something relevant for this summer if SLIP didn't work out.

Re: DOJ SLIP
Anyone know how quickly the process moves after we have our interviews (or, in the case of non-interviewing components, turn in our resumes/transcripts/writing samples)?

Re: DOJ SLIP
For Civil applications -- this was posted on the Avue site.
"the Civil Division has requested approval to increase its number of SLIP hires for summer 2012. If that request is approved, then we will issue supplemental selection notices to address the increase in the number of vacancies. We have no information on the likelihood that this request will be approved or the timeline."

Re: DOJ SLIP
I'm wondering how much SLIP weighs WE versus school ranking. I'm top 15% at a T2, but I have several years of very relevant WE, including work at small firms and a volunteer internship for the component that selected me for further consideration. I also came to law school specifically to go into that area of law, and I think I communicated that in my application materials. Those who have done SLIP in previous years, do you have an idea how much of a disadvantage the school's ranking is to one's SLIP application?
