And importantly (for some of us) does this mean the Ballards, Drinkers, and Peppers of the city will go up to keep pace by the time we rising 2Ls actually start at these places in two years? Any thoughts?Anonymous User wrote:That would definitely make me rethink Blank Rome considering I've only heard negative things about their health. 140k in Philly is a lot.
Pepper makes their first round of offers tomorrow I think.Anonymous User wrote:Bump. Any offer news?
Better question is will Dechert, Duane, and Morgan go to 160?Anonymous User wrote:And importantly (for some of us) does this mean the Ballards, Drinkers, and Peppers of the city will go up to keep pace by the time we rising 2Ls actually start at these places in two years? i doubt it very much. there's just no reason to. 145k in Philly already gives you more than 160k in NYC or DC. i fail to see any philly firm arbitrarily raising it to 160 absent severe inflation. especially not ITE.Anonymous User wrote:Better question is will Dechert, Duane, and Morgan go to 160?Anonymous User wrote:And importantly (for some of us) does this mean the Ballards, Drinkers, and Peppers of the city will go up to keep pace by the time we rising 2Ls actually start at these places in two years? 145 is ample to compete with NY firms, but if many philly firms go to 140/145 the prestige Dechert and Morgan offer may not be enough to lure top talent.Anonymous User wrote:i doubt it very much. there's just no reason to. This may be true. Even if there is a significant "second tier" paying $135-140k, most of those firms are going to offer significantly better chances at partnership, purely statistically speaking. While a lot of people won't leave $20k/year on the table for those or other reasons, I think a lot would leave $5k/$10k (and the "prestige") on the table.Anonymous User wrote: 145 is ample to compete with NY firms, but if many philly firms go to 140/145 the prestige Dechert and Morgan offer may not be enough to lure top talent.
would LOVE to see Ballard go up to 135-140. That would push them to top choice for me.Anonymous User wrote:And importantly (for some of us) does this mean the Ballards, Drinkers, and Peppers of the city will go up to keep pace by the time we rising 2Ls actually start at these places in two years? What does Morgan Philly currently start at? I have Morgan Lewis and Blank Rome CB's next week, but I haven't even looked into salaries or any info like thatAnonymous User wrote: 145 is ample to compete with NY firms, but if many philly firms go to 140/145 the prestige Dechert and Morgan offer may not be enough to lure top talent.
