Firm Reputation vs. Fit

Postby Anonymous User » Sat Aug 20, 2011 2:52 am

I'd like some general thoughts / opinions on firm reputation vs. fit for 2L summer jobs. On the callbacks I seemed to enjoy all the firms equally. Two are at the top of the charts, with the 3rd well-respected, but no one would say the best. How much weight should I give reputation of the firms in this scenario?

Look at firm reputation in the general areas you're considering, in addition to overall reputation. If you're completely undecided, look at firm reputation for both litigation and corporate and maybe go with the one that has the strongest reputation for both.

As far as fit, it's very important. Don't discount it. You'll be happier, do better work, etc, if you're at a firm that you enjoy being at. Definitely visit again and meet more associates and partners before you make up your mind. Good luck choosing!!
