20+ screeners

San Francisco CBs at Quinn, MoFo (Palo Alto), Paul Hastings, Jones Day, Kirkland & Ellis, Mayer Brown (Palo Alto), DLA Piper.

Dinged via e-mail by O'Melveny and by letter at Latham.
It's me again. Gotta CB from WilmerHale today. Plus a local firm.
I both loathe you and envy you.

Congrats on cleaning up. :) Still sitting at zero and wondering if tuition refunds are still possible.

Without giving too much away, is this a lower T1 (i.e UCLA/USC) or higher T1 (UCH/Davis)?

Top 5% at a T25, secondary journal.

Non-OCI callbacks from Akerman Senterfitt and lowndes Drosdick.

OCI: 14 interviews, 1 Callback, no dings yet. Will update when I get more OCI information.

So, I know one or three of us were at the big Kirkland NYC callback last Thursday. Rumor was that today was "hiring committee" day.

Anyone hear anything, or was that just wishful thinking?

Different person here, but I had a screening lunch after resume collect and was subsequently dinged. They are hiring 2 2Ls. I'm T13 above median and from FL.

Sent my resume directly to a partner. However, I know that a few people at my school got screeners last week through resume collection. Any idea what their CB/offer ratio is? As the above poster noted, they're only taking two...

Well judging by how many people I saw there, it seems like half of TLS might have been there. :(

Reed Smith (LA) rejection via email.
Kirkland (LA) rejection via email.
Irell (LA) rejection via letter.
Latham (LA) rejection via letter.

I'm feeling sick right now. Probably have another 15 rejections in progress.

Anyone received offers from mass mail callbacks yet? I've seen a smattering of Cahill offers, but nothing else.

Kirkand and Ellis (NYC) is making offers today based on the big group callback from Thursday.

I and a classmate both got offer calls today (in the past 90 minutes or so).

My Search is over.
T20 (not in Cal)-urm-(top50%,journal)-5yrWE-externship w/ Court-pretty face
Did not participate in my school's OCI because I want to be in N.Cal or CHI and OCI won't get me there.

PLIP:
Pilsbury, LA
McDonnell, CHI (callback)
Blakely Sokoloff
Cooley, SF (snail ding)
Fish & Richardson, SilVal (offer - telephone - 8/16)
Banner & Whitcoff, CHI

Bay Area Diversity Fair:
Bryan Cave, SF
MoFo, SF (email ding)
Finnegan, PaloAlto
Fenwick & West, SF (offer - telephone - 8/16)

Cook County Diversity Fair:
Husch Blackwell, CHI
McAndrews, CHI

SFIPLA:
Perkins Coie, SF (email ding)
Knobbe, SF

Had more interviews coming up, but canceled them in light of these offers.
The ones I didn't hear from might be snail mail dings that went to my school address. Who knows, who cares?

I attribute my success to just being a real person that people can get along with. Honestly I would only prepare for about 15 min per interview because I took the approach of getting to know the people and being very relaxed when talking to them. Before my whole cycle started, i crafted my story and had answers to the obv. questions. From there it was just a couple things about the firm that caught my eye, taking a real interest in the interviewers and being just being a person they can get on with.

Boalt. ~top 35%. Interesting work experience, non-URM.

Our OCI ended on Friday. As of today I have callbacks at:

Cleary, DC
Weil Gotshal, NY
Sidley Austin, LA
Simpson Thacher, LA
WilmerHale, DC
WilmerHale, LA
Kirkland, SF
Skadden, LA
Nixon Peabody, SF
Farella Braun, SF
Bingham, SF
Akin Gump, LA

I think this result is a bit better than my grades would have suggested. At least part of this, I think, is attributable to good interview skills (I did a lot of prep and really fleshed out my answers to some of the more obvious questions). Whatever the reason, I hope my example can cast some doubt on people like Boaltrising3L who claim that top 25% and good interview skills are not enough at Boalt* (see http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=157037).

To be fair, these are CB's and not offers, so I suppose I could strike out at all 12; but I have a V100 offer from a firm in my home (secondary) market via mass mail. So, at the very least, I will not go jobless as some of the more ridiculous Boalt threads have claimed was my destiny.

i'm the poster right above you. if i can do what i did coming from my school w/ my stats... there's no reason you won't be successful w/ your school and your stats if those interview skills are what you say they are. Best of luck!

Arranged pre-OCI screening interview; at Tier 1, East Coast school, ranked Top 10% LR. Received word I would not receive a CB a few days ago. LA office.
