Between a 3.0 and 3.1 with 6 interviews. Straight from UG too. I imagine thats fairly good but I did not bid on the ultra prestigious firms

Between 10-15% class rank, LR.

24 Interviews. Now the real work comes in I guess.

Top 8-10%, non-LR secondary journal.

18 interviews. Probably bid on too many ultra-selective firms, but previous poster is right: The work starts now.

Same poster here with bid breakdown. I missed a ton in the top 10, but got more after that. I bid pretty conservatively which I guess paid off.

I got bids 2-4, 5-6, 12-18, 20-28, 30, 32, 34. Kinda irritated I missed #1 and more irritated we can't find out where the preselect/lottery line is for how we got the interview. Any guess about where the interview is a preselect would be appreciated.

Hang in there, I've talked to multiple people with less. Any idea why? Bidding on super-selective firms or whatnot?

Didn't bid on any super-selective firms. Just spoke to cpc and doesn't seem like resume has any glaring issues. Very weirded out right now.

rising 3L...5 interviews is pretty standard for top 25 non l rev. oci isn't the be-all, end-all. sure it'd be a lot easier if that's how everyone got jobs, but there's always weeks 1-8, mass-mailings, gov't jobs, etc. hang in there...keep at it.

why do you think you missed the ones on the bottom of your list? i would assume you were more than qualified/within the parameters of what they were looking for? that is not to say you should have gotten 35 interviews, but just curious what people's/your thoughts are on why these lower ranked (lower ranked on your list and likely vault as well) firms didn't want to interview

Top 10% (above 3.80 gpa), 17 interviews. No LR, journal, or moot court, but previous tax work experience. Got 4 of the top 5 Vault rankings too (Wachtell doesn't interview at Fordham). Roughly seems to be 17 of my first 20 bids. Almost nothing from bids 21+.

My bid strategy was to start at the #2 vault listing, then work my way down until I had 35 bids, with one or two exceptions.

But god am I nervous now!

how are you above a 3.8 but not LR? Did you turn it down? I graded on with a lower GPA

OP for that quote here...

Not a clue. The ones lower down were just suggestions made by my career counselor. I hadn't even heard of two of them. So I'm not worried about that (29 is plenty to be happy with), but maybe because they were 2's and I'm a 1. My only guess.

So far no, but the lottery makes it difficult to get shut out. All my friends below median have 2-4 and it only seems to marginally improve until you get to the top 25% or so.

I was an evening student that transferred to the day and decided that it just wasn't something I needed/wanted. I also didn't participate in the writing competition for the other journals, and didn't apply for moot court. Just a personal decision, really.

It seems like interview conflicts were also a consideration. I got almost everything I bid on under 20, but 21+ I didn't get any. The only difference between the ones I chose as 21+ and the 1-20 is that the 21+ were ranked worse in vault, so I don't feel like it had anything to do with me. I have two days that are just jam packed so I'm thinking maybe I chose too many that were interviewing on the same day? Who knows, no biggie.

How do we find out the name of the interviewer so that we can do our pre-interview reconnaissance?

Go to the scheduled interview tab of OCI on Symplicity. Then click the date on the left side of where your interviews are listed. If they have it listed, it will be on that next page. FWIW only about 1/2 of mine had the interviewer listed.

I was around 23% + secondary and got around 14 last year. Did something go wrong with your bidding? Good luck, you only need one, and you definitely have a fair chance with those stats!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
