Have you done mass-mail to the rest? A few of them like Nutter and Hoag are a bit less selective, and likely didn't participate in your OCI.

Nutter went out last week and Hoag the week before I think.

Waiting to hear from / follow up with:

Brown, Choate, Edwards Angell, Hoag, Goulston, Nutter.

Wondering when I should follow up. Hadn't planned on doing many more to Boston (thought OCI would go better for me) but am planning to hit Bingham (hey, kitchen sink at this point right?), DLA, Goodwin, Hinckley, K&L, McDermott, Mintz, Prosk, Seyfarth, Sullivan & Wor and Weil.

Might even throw in Skadden for good measure.

Turns out it was only 4 through OCI - I thought I applied somewhere I didn't.

Boston offices that dinged me through OCI: Foley & Lardner, Holland & Knight (was hoping for them through OCI honestly), Ropes (wasn't expecting anything here) and Cooley.

Cooley is insanely selective since they only hire 2-5 SA's for Boston, (10.9% of our bidders recieve interviews through OCI), I'm a bit suprised about Ropes, they are the most liberal firm at our OCI as far as granting screeners. (38.6%). Seyfarth and DLA don't really take anyone, so I'm not sure it's worth your time.

Care to elaborate on the bingham comment, I don't get it.

Putting Bingham in the upper echelons of Boston, so when I say I wasn't expecting anything out of Ropes, that is extendable to Bingham as well (really all the other TOP Boston firms too, like Goodwin).

Try sending a resume to Murtha Cullina, they are a mid sized, CT based firm. They hire 4 or 5 SA's, the odds are about as good as Cooley.

This is true of most Boston firms. The best Boston firms are less selective in some ways (Ropes/Wilmer/GP) because their class sizes are 70/32/19 respectively, they give out a lot more offers, but still usually only take the top 1/4 or so of the class at places in the GW/BC/BU range. The small satellite office firms in Boston (Weil/Cooley/F&L) only take a small number of people so are a little more choosey. These places tend to be highly specialized and are truly "satellite offices", so make sure you know what you're getting into.

Bingham didn't ride the economy so well, so even though they are big in Boston, they only take a very small summer class.

Blindmelon's response is credited, and when he says that the small satellite offices only take a "small" number of people, it might be worth noting that this really means small, i.e. 0-6. Regarding Bingham, they're extremely unpredictable, but they'll probably tell you how many they're aiming for at a screening interview if you ask. Last year, they said right from the get go that they were aiming for a summer class of 6, and that's what they got.

Also, I'd like to second Blindmelon's word of caution about working for a national firm with a Boston satellite. As he so eloquently stated, "[t]hese places tend to be highly specialized." You may very well find yourself despising the one practice area that the office supports. As much as you think you might be interested in a certain practice area now, you just don't know anywhere near enough about the day-to-day work of each practice at this point to make such an important decision. I'm very glad I wound up at a large office this summer, as it allowed me to try different things and discover that I loved a practice area I'd never even heard of before.

CB at Goodwin scheduled in 2 weeks through mass mailing- I go to a school which doesn't have ANY representation at their Boston office, so I was shocked (though it's a good regional school, not in New England). I do have some ties though. Do they usually call back a lot more than they plan to offer? Anything I should know about the interviews?

Anyone who did a GP CB know what the turnaround is supposed to be? I forgot to ask the recruiter.

I got a GP offer ~ 1 week after the interview. I think their hiring committee meets on Wednesday or Thursday.

Aside from the above, somebody also mentioned earlier that Ropes does a lot of callbacks - how many? And, any info on how long it takes them to either give out offers or dings after a callback?

Yes, had a callback a couple of weeks ago. Nothing since.
