CLS EIP 2011
Figured I'd create this for CLS peeps. Lottery results come out at noon today, we can use this tread to compare/complain about how our ranking strategies worked.

Yeah, it's strange though. One of the firms I bid on but didn't receive a screening interview for was on the list of underbid firms. scratches head

I think that list is firms that have been underbid in previous years and not based on inside, up-to-date info.

Damn, 19 and 23?? I only got 14, bid only NYC, mostly safe firms. Is 14 really low?

this may be because you have too many interviews on that day and they couldn't maneuver you in. that list is current for this year though, not based on previous years.

Re: CLS EIP 2011
Really pleasantly surprised with how it turned out:
Won 24 screening interviews.
All were NY firms. I got all in the top 15 of my bids.
Will we be able to find out the interviewer's name in advance? Now's the time to do the real homework!

People who got 20+...did you bid on less popular secondary markets or on a lot of very selective firms?

currently tweaking my bidlist for eip @ hls, and would value any insight ppl here might have.
any idea how high i need to bid on the big ny v10 firms in order to be fairly assured of an interview? were you guys able to get interviews with cleary, skadden, simpson, ect without having them in your top 10 generally? thanks

I got 23 screeners. 25/30 were NYC for me. Did have a fair number of "selective" firms - DPW, Cravath, Quinn, etc. 2 of my secondary market firms I actually didn't get because they were all on the last day, and I had a full schedule of interviews on that day already.Anonymous User wrote:People who got 20+...did you bid on less popular secondary markets or on a lot of very selective firms?

I bid all NYC, and I only got 14. It seems unfair that there can be a differential of ten when people are bidding on the same city. I guess that's just the way it is.chinny123 wrote:I got 23 screeners. 25/30 were NYC for me. Re: CLS EIP 2011
The wide differentials probably came down to bid order and selectivity of firms. People who bid the less selective, high demand firms first, followed by the V10s and other selective firms usually got more interviews than people who bid just the high demand firms. Unfortunately, this tends to favor people with higher grades since they can afford to bid a wider-range.
To above poster: Interviewer names will become available the week before EIP, so keep checking. Some firms will not post the name, or will switch interviewers the day of, so be prepared. It helps to have a Blackberry or other smartphone so you can quickly Google the person when you are outside the door. Not that it would really matter much anyway.

I got 14 for all NYC too, it's not unfair, it is strategy. Chinny was probably taking some risks of not getting some firms that he/she wanted by bidding them down the list to maximize opportunities.Anonymous User wrote:I bid all NYC, and I only got 14. Re: CLS EIP 2011
Any idea if there is a system for trading time slots? I'm happy with what I got, but I have a couple random morning interviews where I have to down to Times Sq first thing in the morning for only 20 min. I don't want to drop those firms, but would love to lose the awkward 4-hour gap in the middle. Can we trade with others who have same firm/same day to reduce unnecessary commuting and general craziness?

2/25, focussed mainly on New York, but I'm a 3L. Basically, don't blow 2L EIP kids because 3L EIP is a cruel cruel joke
