2011 SA offers
Admins,
Can we post a sticky for people to report summer associate hiring. I know that two days ago Latham offered everyone in its NY office.

I don't think a sticky is necessary (yet), but folks are welcome to post here (anon or otherwise) if they know a particular office has made offers.

Ropes apparently gave offers a few weeks ago. Latham has given out offers (not 100% firmwide, however). Gibson Dunn NY has made offers as well.

Interesting. Reminds me of the person on here who was summering with them and was worried about their rep of no-offering because of slipped grades. His/hers had fallen precipitously, but i guess they were okay.Anonymous User wrote:Yes.Anonymous User wrote:Was GDC NY 100%?Anonymous User wrote:Ropes apparently gave offers a few weeks ago. I also heard summers were worked till 10 pm and on weekends regularly. Can anyone confirm the 58/60 and explain what happened to the other two?Anonymous User wrote:I heard Debevoise NY gave offers to 58/60.

Re: 2011 SA offers
This is an exaggeration, or at least is not fully representative. It really depended on what you got staffed on. There were two massive, short-timeframe financing/cap markets deals where the summers were regularly in late (I think one summer pulled an all-nighter) and on weekends. But the majority of summers didn't have that sort of workload. I worked until 10 or 11 maybe 5-6 times, billed 10 hours one weekend and 5 hours another weekend, but otherwise was out of the office at a normal time (i.e., not later than 7ish). My office mate worked similar hours. I would say our workload was pretty average.Anonymous User wrote:I also heard summers were worked till 10 pm and on weekends regularly.Anonymous User wrote:I heard Debevoise NY gave offers to 58/60.
I can confirm that there was one person who got no-offered. It's possible there was another, but I haven't heard anything about it. The kid who didn't get an offer was kind of weird/awkward, but as far as I know, didn't do anything outrageous. I have no idea what his work product was like though.Anonymous User wrote: Can anyone confirm the 58/60 and explain what happened to the other two?

Re: 2011 SA offers
Fun fact: I did not work at Debevoise, but the the only summer I know at my firm who worked well past midnight was involved on a deal Debevoise was involved with. It is thus fair to say that not only does Debevoise work its summers hard, but they work OTHER firm's summers hard too.
