Just signed up because I'm freaking out about callbacks and wanted other people to freak out with.
One so far with clifford chance NY (got it Thursday night last week), no dings yet. Top third, secondary journal, weak WE but decent international experience which I think might have helped. Most of the firms I interviewed with haven't been mentioned in here, so that's good.

I'm sitting next to logic. He says Covington doesn't call references for every applicant with a 2.9 GPA that they hated in the screening interview.Anonymous User wrote: im sitting next to a covington partner. he says they check all references

What are good grades? Rank wise I mean. Did you do a journal, moot court, or any of those.Anonymous User wrote:honestly. i have good grades both in law and undergrad. i'm likeable. and i'm getting iced. i dont understand. i dont even wanna start school anymore.
i assumed "getting iced" means no callbacks? If so, call your counselor tomorrow and see what they can say. Maybe get some feedback from a screener you thought you clicked with to see what the problem is. This only matters if grades were good enough in the first place. And I'm sorry for bad results so far, hopefully it gets better.

First of all, you got this. You have good grades, you're likeable, and you're most likely a good person. If you can't do this, no one can.Anonymous User wrote:honestly. i have good grades both in law and undergrad. i'm likeable. and i'm getting iced. i dont understand. i dont even wanna start school anymore.
Secondly, EIW is not the end-all be-all. Trying to impress through 20 minute interviews and numbers is no fun and no reflection of anything, except perhaps the extent you've practiced making 20 minute pitches
Thirdly, perhaps the problem lies in trying to be "likeable." At the screening stage, showing that you're driven, committed to private practice, and thoughtful about why you want to go into private practice are more impt than being likeable, IMHO.
