Why expected? How strong were your ties?
I hated them. Ties are pretty strong. They claimed to be a "laid back" firm where everyone was friends, yet doors were closed at many of the people I might with came across as incredibly uptight. It just wasn't a good fit. I knew it, and I think they did too.

Their last batch of cbs is this Thursday/Friday. They'll make decisions after that, I'm guessing.

Obviously, that's a ridiculous question, since everyone is different and there is no "NU" success or failure. But if one were to generalize based on their friends, themselves, etc. Better or worse than last year? Better or worse than expected?

Just curious, since NU is my top choice... Sorry to interject in your guys' doings.
(3L) I feel like it's worse than last year. I think part of it is people thinking it would be better than last year and doing things like bidding in Chicago instead of panic-dly applying to NYC.
NYC has been very, very hard. Chicago has been pretty brutal too. Most median-ish people I know who have CBs, have them in secondary markets.
I think the only conclusions I can draw from the limited information I have is that it's hard to generalize. I know a Person A with objectively lower credentials than Person B (same grades, worse journal) who has double digit CB while Person B has two or three. It seems to be that bidding strategy and, I guess, interview skills (?) are playing a significant role. People with non-elite grades who bid aggressively on non-elite firms seem to be cleaning up. Even in Chicago.
+1
