Sidley Chi snail mail ding.
I'm out of the Chicago biglaw game.
I am sure everything will turn out however it is supposed to turn out, but man is this process ever stressful.

Has anyone gotten an official ding from SullCrom yet? I did the OCI screener w/ them back on Tue., 8/16 and have heard radio silence since. I know I'm not in their 1st round, but am I still in the running?

Re: Northwestern 2011 OCI Lottery Results/Call Backs thread
It's hard to discern from this thread the overall feeling of NU's OCI success. Obviously, that's a ridiculous question, since everyone is different and there is no "NU" success or failure. But if one were to generalize based on their friends, themselves, etc. Better or worse than last year? Better or worse than expected?
Just curious, since NU is my top choice... Sorry to interject in your guys' doings.

(3L) I feel like it's worse than last year. I think part of it is people thinking it would be better than last year and doing things like bidding in Chicago instead of panic-dly applying to NYC.Kring345 wrote:It's hard to discern from this thread the overall feeling of NU's OCI success. NYC has been very, very hard. Chicago has been pretty brutal too. Most median-ish people I know who have CBs, have them in secondary markets.Anonymous User wrote:(3L) I feel like it's worse than last year. Re: Northwestern 2011 OCI Lottery Results/Call Backs thread
I think the only conclusions I can draw from the limited information I have is that it's hard to generalize. I know a Person A with objectively lower credentials than Person B (same grades, worse journal) who has double digit CB while Person B has two or three. It seems to be that bidding strategy and, I guess, interview skills (?) are playing a significant role. People with non-elite grades who bid aggressively on non-elite firms seem to be cleaning up. Even in Chicago.Anonymous User wrote:NYC has been very, very hard. Chicago has been pretty brutal too. 3.7, no journal, worked at an IP firm over the summer.
22 screeners, 14 dings, 8 waiting, but 0 callbacks so far. Given that and the already low callback-offer ratio, I'm in full panic mode.

wow I'm surprised. Median here, no journal as well ... 10 CBs + multiple offers. You should check with Career Services for a mock interview.Anonymous User wrote:3.7, no journal, worked at an IP firm over the summer.

I don't think getting mocked is what this person currently needs.

not trying to mock the person and sorry if I came across that way, but I'm just implying that there might be interview skill issues at hand. Clearly the poster did much better than I did during 1L year, interview skills may explain his/her lack of success
