Objectively good looking indeed. Who could look at this face and not give out a callback?

Anonymous User wrote:So what you're saying, as somebody with three V10 offers, no work experience, and no diversity status, and who is below median, is that people bid too aggressively? Something tells me you're full of shit, man. And I have asked around. Nobody I know with around your grades and who doesn't have diversity status/terrific work experience is getting any V10 offers regardless of looks/interview skills.
I don't think this person is necessarily lying. I did pretty well with callbacks, roughly 33% success rate (including V10) with no urm, median-ish grades, for a competitive market. WE, but nothing out of the ordinary. No hard science.

Regarding the whole nobody-you-know thing...while some people shout about their callbacks from the rooftops, there are others of us that try not to shove successes in others' faces.

EDIT: However, I do disagree with that guy about the whole bidding too aggressively thing. If you have a shot at a great firm that you like, then go for it. It may seem like some people are striking out, but remember that CBs are still waiting to trickle down the waitlists at all the firms. And it doesn't matter if you're the first one to get a CB or the last, if you end up at the same firm, you're doing the same shit for the same money.

OP here. I haven't been posting, and I'm not here to doubt people's stories. I'm just interested in GPAs and what people think got them the V10 NY callback if their grades are not very high.

I agree with the person who said some firms are friendly towards people with good personalities. Bidding in competitive market with no WE, grades just above median, three V10 CB, three V20, and three others (all V100).

Here it comes. A repeat of last year's "You're not enough of a bro!" debate.

People also grossly underestimate the power of networking. At every single firm where I had solidified a contact within the firm, callback.

lets see if we can get a run-down of how oci went for folks as things are rolling in

appx gpa
#screeners
market
#CB

ill go:

slightly below median
about 20
two markets
7

#CB

Significantly below median
about 26
2 markets, 1 primary & 1 secondary
10 CBs

I think the earlier comment that emphasized the value of having connections at the firm is absolutely true, especially when those contacts are partners.

Okay, I'll be brave for others (if any) in my position:

Hair above median
15<x<20
One market
0....

Wondering what was the kiss of death for my OCI experience. But still not dinged anywhere with a "big class," so maybe I'm just blah.

Let's go with the OCS mantra "no news is good news" - it may actually turn out to be true.

So it does seem like the median and slightly below median people are doing quite well based on the anecdotal sample. Also for the few posters slightly above or top 1/3 LR that have only 1 or a few CB's, what were the markets that you have been interviewing in?

and are you objectively good looking? how much do you bench press? these are the things we need to know.
