MVPB BigLaw

Postby orlando123 » Tue Jul 26, 2011 2:46 pm

Read that ~70% of CCN got something last fall out of oci. What about MVPB. I'm guessing 55% P 50 V, 45 M, 40 B?

Would your pattern of prediction remain consistent down that T14? That is, would you predict something like D 35%, N30%, C25%, G20%, UCLA 15% and so on?

LOL.

OP: CLS/NYU were at 70% of OCI participants. NU was about 60%. Everyone else in that range is probably around that.

Thanks for the subtle anti-Boalt trolling with those BS numbers.

B was more like 20% according to my friend there. P is about on par with NYU with quibbles over who is higher.

Uch. Here we go again. Boalt was actually more like 60-70% according to what I heard.

From OCI, uh, no. Career services there pretty much said that OCI was really only going to deliver for the top of the class. Thats what you get when you don't have grades. 0Ls

This argument has already played out in so many threads. Boalt's OCI was probably around 60% according to nearly everyone with some connection to Boalt (0Ls who have asked CDO, 1Ls/2Ls who have asked CDO, 3Ls coming through, etc). You hate Boalt, we get it. I genuinely like most of your comments in other threads, but your anti-Boalt trolling makes me wonder what Berkeley did to piss you off?

I realize that you are totally into Penn, which is cool with me, but, just wondering - do you typically troll all other schools or just Boalt?

Just Boalt because of their dependence on the California market. Honestly man, I asked my co-worker about this as well. If I troll Boalt, then so do IRL kids from Boalt.

I should probably leave well enough alone, but what do you mean by this? Boalt is IN California, and a lot of grads want to stay.

I think Boalt's strong placement in SF, SV, and SoCal is a huge strength.

Does Boalt place as well if not better than MVP into CA - yes.

Is that a good market to place into when it comes to raw OCI placement (topic of conversation) - no.

P.S. Its Berkeley Law now.

Read your own sentence. Career services said...was only going to deliver.... That's not actually what happened. They played it very conservatively because they wanted people to get jobs and not to put all of their eggs in the OCI basket. What actually happened is more like the 50% that OCI stats actually showed.

Now, should I make up some bullshit about Penn? Or should I only stick topics where I have a fucking clue?

Link to 50% placement thru OCI?

Credited. You still pulled that 20% figure out of your bum though. The class of 2009 info that came out this past spring put Boalt at 45% NLJ250 placement. That's not OCI data, but what you're suggesting is that Boalt grads primarily land NLJ250 jobs through means other OCI, which is more than just a little counter-intuitive.

45% NLJ250 placement I believe. The 20% is the Boltie's guestimation, not mine.

I made a mistake, but you've posted already so I'll just note it here. It's 2010 NLJ250 data, not 2009. And yes, it's 45%. Are you seriously suggesting ~20% of Boalt rising 2L's land 2L SA's through OCI, but ~45% of graduates have those same kinds of jobs after graduation?

The 20% is the Boltie's guestimation, not mine.

Uh... okay. So in response to all the unsubstantiated anecdotes from Boalt students and career services saying the OCI figure was closer to 50%, you've countered with an unsubstantiated anecdote that says 20%. K...

Not sure it's anti Boalt trolling at all. It was an honest guess based on everyone I've talked to and what I've read.

Those numbers lag the current hiring market by several years bro. Class of 2011 was the first class to apply for SAs durring the recession. Do your research next time before investing 200k into something.
