The Valkyrie is heading into uncharted waters today - filing a divorce in a county I've never been in court. Maybe when I get back I'll have a good story about boldly going where no Valkyrie has gone before. Probably not though. I am going to get me some good-ass barbecue.

I'm just messing around; I'm bored and this thread needs either a new story or some drama.

So i really want this ADA job, so I asked some lawyers I know to call/send recommendation letters, even though no such recommendations were asked for. I got a copy of the letter one of them sent, and it's fucking glowing. The guy is a former 20+ year prosecutor too. I'm really hoping this puts me over the top. I figure it can't hurt, right?

You can't just post this in the blog section?

Didn't know that - I'd be happy to see the thread moved. I reckon it fits in both categories.

Great posts. And paratactical, I hesitate to call you out, but you're gonna come into an on-topic thread on one of the rare occasions that someone posts something substantive on this forum and crawl down his throat?

Hey now. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy your posts, I'm just saying they weren't a wealth of insight to aspiring lawyers that puts you on a level above reproach.

(good luck though, in the job search)

I agree with you, but I do like to think that I might be of some help to other people here who might be interested in asking me questions about my specific experience. Thanks for the well wishes. Being unemployed sucks. If one more person tells me to look at usajobs.gov or monster.com, I'm going to scream.

The Valkyrie: Is it possible that you became complacent and less productive when Managing Partner sat you down the first time and told you that she wanted you close by and that you had a future in the firm?

I'm not trying to be a d**k, just constructive. But is it possible that you only bust your ass when you think it is on the line? To be fair, this is just human nature, but some people exhibit the fault more than others, myself included I think.

Didn't get the ADA Job. Bummed, especially because I used a lot of favors trying to get it. Now I'm in another state visiting my aunt and uncle. My aunt has been pestering me to come up here because she knows a guy who knows lawyers (when will these people realize that not knowing enough lawyers is not the problem?) anyway, I've got this Vietnamese guy showing me around and introducing me to a lot of confused and busy people. It's hard to know what to say. I tell them I'm moving here and I plan to take the bar in February, which is a totally underwhelming way of selling myself, but here we are.

I filed a divorce for my client, who is getting divorced. I can't get divorced because I'm not married yet.
