How long ago did you apply/what was the turnaround time?
A couple weeks.

Didn't get interviews with Willke and Seward at our off-campus NYC program. Mailed both. Seward put me on the schedule, Willkie is trying to set something up.

Cornell? I'm thinking of doing this with a few firms. What are your creds if you don't mind? Did you send targeted cover letters?

Did about 25 mass mails to my home market, since most big firms are coming to my school's OCI. Two firms called me up last week, one for a screener and one for a call-back style interview. One firm is a local midsized firm, and the other is a large non-Vault firm in my region. And a V50 I applied to just yesterday scheduled what sounds like a regular screener. Given how few mass mails I sent out, I'm surprised the positive response rate has been so high.

so do these firms not come to your school to interview?

there are a lot of firms i didn't bid on that i would like to interview with, but i have e-mailed a couple, and they all say that i should interview with them when they are on-campus.

Can't you just tell a little white lie, and say you bid on them but the lottery didn't work out in your favor and would like to set something up independently? I'd imagine that, at a pure lottery school, the firms just get a list of who was selected through the lottery. Its not like they know who bid of them and who didn't.

i'd really rather not do that. it just sucks that we are basically shut out of all the firms coming to EIP that we could not bid on because we only got thirty bids.

from the firm's perspective, it's kind of, like, if we weren't even in your top thirty, why should we interview you?

Well, then don't lie, but just vaguely say that the lottery just didn't pan out such that you could talk to the firm. If you are persistent in expressing your interest, then I'd imagine at least a few of them will humor you and schedule you for a quick screener outside of the OCI process.

Over the last 10 days or so I direct e-mailed all Denver firms that either aren't participating in my school's OCI or aren't recruiting for the Denver office ... One got back immediately to ask for a writing sample, but other than generic thanks, we'll be in touch, I haven't heard anything yet. Keeping my fingers crossed as I pointed out I'm in-market for the next two weeks.

This seems like as good of a place as any to ask this question. I want to send my stuff to Lieff Cabraser, so I am looking at their online website. When you try to complete the application on there, you cannot for some reason select graduating in 2013 but on their website it seems clear they are hiring 2Ls (i.e. class of 2013) and maybe some 3Ls. Has anyone who is applying here figured out what to do? I can call, but if someone knows the answer please let me know. Thanks!

Just set up a CB interview with the following Boston firms, after initially contacting them by mass mail: Ropes, Seyfarth, Foley, Goulston.

The ice around NYC firms is finally thawing for me.

Sent out 75 mailers or so in late June/early July. Finally snagged a couple V50 interviews for next week after persistent follow up. One screener, one callback (first interview but it's a callback setup). Visiting the city at my own cost.

Top 5% at a school between 30-40.

Did you mass mail firms you didn't even bid on by any chance?
