Short Selling the U.S. Economy - Need Career Advice.

Postby DeSimone » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:02 am

In the event the U.S. economy takes a further hit in the upcoming future, the dollar will lose its status of the reserve/oil trading currency, the U.S. credit rating will get downgraded, etc., which specializations of corporate/transactional legal work will still be in demand? Looking for a niche that will be marketable either in the U.S. or abroad.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Like so many questions, if you can answer this one, you should really leverage that ability to earn millions instead of attending law school.

If the dollar / U.S. economy collapses, the last thing on your mind will be which area of corporate law you decided to go into.

What about M&A? I heard that M&A experience is transferable worldwide as the governing laws are pretty uniform.

I for one am banking on hyperinflation to pay off my loans.

A year of it and I'll be able to just through the balance on my Visa.

On a similar note, hypothetically speaking, if USA (2011) was a law school, which one would it be?
(and why, for more lulz)

Cooley.

Because everyone can get in, everyone can take on a ton of debt, and everyone thinks they're entitled to a job.

University of Minnesota. Formerly prestigous, but a decades-long decline.

The dollar will not lose its status as the world reserve currency and you should stop listening to these investors who have millions of dollars into gold trying to create a short bubble. The US is also not likely to get downgraded because Congress will pull some short term resolution out of their asses at the last the minute to save the day.

So you are going to short sell the U.S. economy for what?

Europe? LOL

Japan? WTF does Japan want with you?

Anywhere else? Enjoy being poor compared to the US
