To all those who have first hand experiences or who have researched these markets thoroughly, please identify the most desirable firms in NYC, Chicago, DC, Boston, & SF. Your rationale should go beyond surface analysis (rankings) and take into consideration the variables that differ from firm to firm.
Selfishly, an emphasis on Chicago would be appreciated. Boutique firms that pay near market rate and large firms that pay slightly below market rate may be included as well.
