I know people have to register for 3L OCI before receiving offer from the 2L firm. But do they have enough time to complete the whole process (till receiving offer from another firm) before the offers to return to the firm they did 2L SA expire?

In other word, when do firm typically require a response from the post-SA offer?

thx!

I'm lazy, but the NALP website has rules (that most big firms follow) about how long the offer stays open. Look that up and you can probably rely on it being the case. You definitely have some time to ponder (but some firms will try and ply you with liquor to accept on the spot).

There is no short answer to your question, dooder. The answer may depend upon (1) when your SA program finishes, (2) when your OCI starts, (3) the time between your screener/CB/offer, and (4) your SA firm's policies on giving permanent offers.

I think the rules used to be that you could hold X offers until Y month (ie 5 offers until Sept 1, 4 until Oct 1, etc.) but by Dec 1 you had to be down to one offer.

I think the window is much shorter now as firms want to be able to make other callbacks or go back to recruiting before they get too far out from OCI.
