Federal courthouse open house attire
There's an event for law school students. Should I suit up or go business casual?

I'd go business casual, its not like you're making an appearance. Maybe throw a jacket/tie in the back seat just in case if you're worried.

I wouldn't set foot in a courthouse if I weren't in a suit.

Especially federal. Lawyers are used to seeing people in suits. If you are slightly overdressed, it won't really be a big deal. if you are under-dressed, that will stand out.

I'd be rather shocked if there wasn't soemone you could contact about this or if the invitation didn't have some signal about the dress code. I'd still go in with a suit if you have no idea; you can dress down in the middle of event, but dressing up may be difficult. I've worked in courthouses that were more casual than others, but eh, no reason to take chances.

Re: Federal courthouse open house attire
i emailed earlier, and was told that students usually wear business attire or business casual. i'd rather wear business casual but don't want to be under dressed.
it's not a networking event, it's a morning "Open Courts" event where judges and clerks show you around and take questions.
