DuPont Minority Job Fair
Anyone doing it this year or have done it in the past? I would like to talk strategy as far as which interviews to accept based on GPA/school and whatnot.
For me...I got selected for some major market interviews but also a bunch of secondary markets where I have 0 ties. I am wondering if I should accept the secondary market interviews. Around top 25% MVP if that helps.

I would probably accept every interview you get. If you are going to be there anyway, you might as well get practice, even if its a market you are not interested in.
How many interviews is considered a decent amount? I got four interviews. ~top 10% at a T25.

First poster.
To the person who asked what a "good" number of interviews is. The max allowed is 12 interviews. I think what matters is that you have some firms you care about on the list so that it supplements (aka frees up bids) for your school's OCI. I personally have a high number of interviews but wouldn't mind giving up some of them because I have 0 interest in working at the firm.
I am also talking about DE. It appears the email went out late last night.

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
Just received an email from Houston fair. Among those that offer me interviews, there's only one firm that I'm truly interested in. I'm facing a hard choice because DUPont and Bay Area Minority Fair are held on the same day. Does it hurt my chances for this firm in OCI if I turn them down in DuPont?

I imagine you can explain the conflict between the fairs if it even comes up.Anonymous User wrote:Just received an email from Houston fair. I just wanted to correct my previous post. You can accept certain interviews and decline others.

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
Does anyone know of someone who got a job offer out of this fair? I got offered about 8 interviews for the Delaware fair, but most of the firms are in secondary markets that I have no interest in working for or even interviewing with. I did, however get pre-selected by Boies Schiller's NY office. I'd love to interview with them but to attend I'd have to miss a good friend's wedding. I'm top 1/3 at MVP so I don't think my grades are anywhere near good enough to be considered by Boies in any other context.
So I guess my question is, has anyone gotten a solid job offer out of a major market firm from DuPont, or do some firms just attend the fair to add to the "diversity" section of their website?
Thanks in advance!

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
just got notified of interviews today for Houston.
I +1 the question above. How likely is it to get a callback from something like this? While I haven't gotten second semester grades yet, my first semester grades have me hovering around median at UT/UCLA/Vandy. Considering I only have 2 interviews from this, is it even worth it to go?

I don't know about whether people actually get jobs from this, but so long as you don't have to travel a long distance or pay a lot of money, I would say go. If nothing, it can at least be good practice for when regular OCI comes around.

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
Got a few interviews at the L.A. fair. I echo the question on whether anyone's actually gotten a job from this. The Bay Area Diversity fair is the same day (deadline to apply tonight) but I won't apply if my odds are better with the L.A. interviews. Eighty employers at the Bay Area fair might make for better chances, but Bay Area results don't come out until August, long after the deadline to RSVP for the L.A. interviews... Who decided to schedule these fairs the same day anyway?
FWIW, top 1/3 at lower T1 here.

So how are interviews gonna work? We just show up at the place? Why have we not been given a specific interview times?

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
Can people post callbacks (if any) once they receive them?
Someone mentioned yesterday that the only reason firms even participate in this is because it's part of their contract with DuPont. I definitely got the feeling with some recruiters that they weren't taking this very seriously (and some don't even have summer programs).

Why?
If you are bottom 10% you need every chance you can get to speak to someone in person. In your shoes, I would take the spot then send a letter to every firm in Houston (it sounds like that is where this is held) letting them know you are in town and interested in a position with them.

Re: DuPont Minority Job Fair
I participated in the Delaware Dupont Fair last year and got an offer with a big firm in a primary market. I definitely wouldn't decline any interviews in this market.
