Chances at a Firm Job?

Postby Anonymous User » Tue Jun 07, 2011 7:53 pm

I didn't do so well second semester so I've decided to drop out of the running for biglaw. However, I would still like a firm job and, as of now, I don't mind going out of state to smaller markets or working in fields that I wouldn't have considered before.

So here is some information about me. What do you think about my chances at a medium-sized firm job?

-LS GPA: 2.8
-UG GPA: 3.4

-LS: Ranked Top 10
-UG: Ranked Top 2

-Under-represented minority
-Woman
-2 leadership positions at LS (one in minority-based student group, one as mediator)
-Summer job working in energy policy
-1 yr experience in the legal field (paralegal for International/Criminal firm)
-Language skills
-Experience working abroad for the UN (2 mo.)
-Wrote 2 theses in UG
-Merit scholarship in LS

You should at the very least attend diversity job fairs and try for big law.

Where would this place you in class rank? With URM and an around median GPA, you still have a decent shot at Biglaw.

Doubt you get anything through OCI but a lot of small and midsized firms recruit later. Get your GPA up.

2.8 is probably bottom 10%
