In the sense that someone will track down your new employer and tell on you, it isn't that small.

You spent three years in crowded rooms with people who represent those you'll be working around for the rest of your career. And you think this is unlikely to happen?

Accepting a summer job and dumping it at the last minute makes you appear unreliable, unprofessional, and stupid. One person's failure to perceive the obvious impact of this on their professional reputation does not make this thread either a "discussion" or "interesting."

You're simply concluding over and over without any substantive argument. Here's a template:

Conclusion: Declining a summer job at the last minute will make you appear unreliable.

You'd need to address whether this is true, any limitations on it, why it your conclusion matters, whether your conclusion means any specific course of action should be followed and if so whether the course itself is worse than the harm you're arguing for, etc.
