RA is the job that screams, "I couldn't convince anyone in the country to let me do legal work for them for FREE." If you have a good reason for it, like your wife is in med school and you had your first kid in May, then it's fine. Or if you're writing ten chapters in a book for a professor who has offered you a coauthor credit, and who can pick up the phone in a year and get you an interview for a COA clerkship, then it's a smart move.

Otherwise . . . do not want.
