What kind of grades do you need to have a good shot of getting a federal clerkship from a school like ND/WUSTL/Emory/BC?

Have to be more specific. I go to one of the schools you mentioned, and I think Top 25%+LR gets you a shot at the local vagistrate. Top 10% shot at local D.Ct. Top 5% a shot at the local Circuit. For truly competitive circuits you need top 1% and professors willing to not only write you shining recommendations but MAKE PHONE CALLS on your behalf. There are so many applicants, and so many variables, that "having a shot" means only not getting your resume laughed at and thrown in the trash.

For district court, generally top 5%.

Grades won't matter if you can write a really compelling cover letter.

How much will getting a clerkship help in terms of getting a biglaw job?
Will clerking for a magistrate/district judge help your biglaw chances?

Assuming you can get a Federal clerkship, you've presumably already have your BigLaw job lined up since you had the grades for a fairly decent 2L Summer Associate position.
