Well, this whole pissing contest about consulting aside, I wish you luck OP. I know your situation is a tough one and a lot of students (even at T14s) are facing it. But more than likely, something will come through for you, both this summer and after graduation. So keep your head up.

Sorry I can't offer any advice as far as how to make it happen (I am just a 1L), but hopefully some upperclassmen and recent grads will chime in with some helpful advice. It looks like this thread has been beyond unhelpful thus far.

OP, have you tried using linkedin. I got an IB internship by stalking my school's alumni who worked in the industry. I managed to get countless interviews by doing this. I'm not sure if it will work equally as well with legal employment, but you can give it a try.

Is part of the problem that your expectations aren't realistic? I have a bunch of friends (only a 1L) that are complaining about the lack of jobs because they only apply to firms. There are public interest orgs that will take you, and there are government jobs that will take you without looking at your GPA, especially if you come from a T14.

Yes, by definition of t14, it is. Texas isn't a T13. Please snark appropriately.
Cade McNown sucks.

Texas isn't t14 no matter what a silly magazine says.

Has anyone suggested starting a club/org in the law school to create a bridge between the engineering school and the law school? Could be a good way to get a start-up going post grad if nothing else comes through.

OP here.

I got something for the summer. It wont turn into a full time job after graduation but at least its something. Its with a small firm doing mostly contract review (not fun but it will do for a summer). The pay is pretty decent and I don't have to move.

I still have no idea what to do after graduating, but at least my resume wont be blank for the summer.

As a rising 3L should I bother mass mailing big law in the summer or is that a waste of time (because of grades and the fact that I will be a 3L)?

Consider med school.

I've been thinking about this if OCI doesn't work out in the fall.

You'd be better off trying to get a non-lawyer government job. My fallback is post office.
