I'm flying out to a call back tomorrow night and and then check into a hotel that following night. However, I need to check out of the hotel the next morning, when I will be attending my call back.

Do I just grab all my belongings with me to the call back? Do I ask the hotel to hold on to them? Or should I just fly over with a suit on and bring no belongings? How does this work?

any hotel will hold your bags for you after you check out - just ask at the desk

It's not a stupid question.

You have to make your own call, but there are two good options: First, you can have the hotel hold your bags. All hotels do this, and it takes like a minute to drop them off and get a claim ticket. Second, you can bring them to the firm and ask the receptionist if there's a place to hold them. It's perfectly acceptable if your turnaround means no time to pick up your bags before leaving for the airport.

I'm kind of nervous about this call back, especially since I'm a guy, and I don't know sports. If anyone has any suggestions for the call back, or the call back lunch, I could use any help.

I would recommend doing a lot of research about the firm...

I am almost certain that they will ask you if you have questions. Make sure you have plenty.

I would also recommend trying to permeate the questions throughout the interview, not just BAM all at the end.

Further, if at the end you run out of questions and they say "any more questions?"
- Respond with something like "Oh, actually you have answered all the questions that I had as of right now, but if I think of some later, can I contact you?" Or something like that.

Sports? I know nothing about sports either. Sounds cheesy, but "be yourself." I didn't have to talk about sports in any interviews.

I agree with previous post(s) about having questions. Be ready to have *lots* of questions just in case. I had a few callback interviews where the interviewer asked, "So, any questions for me?" about four or five minutes into a 30-minute time slot. When this happens, you have the burden of carrying the conversation that entire time.

For both the interviews and the lunch, two good open-ended questions that will get people talking are: (1) "Tell me about your practice," and (2) "Why did you choose to join Firm X?" I found that the first question in particular was a great way to get a conversation started.

I doubt anyone will ask you anything sports-related unless you have something under your 'Interests' section on your resume. It might come up at lunch, but just be honest that you don't know much about it--they'll move on to another topic.

Have something else interesting to talk about though. My impression from callbacks was that lunch was an opportunity for them to see how you conduct yourself in normal conversations, not just in interviews.
