Re: New 2L Transfer Grades (w/ anon)
Transferred from T2 to Berkeley.
Was top 1% at T2.
Grades last semester were: 3x HH in 4 unit classes, 1x H in 2 unit class
Berkeley doesn't rank, so I don't know exactly how good this is, but I think it's pretty good. Definitely happy with it.

Wow, congrats! I think it's safe to say you're also top 1% at Berkeley right now. I transferred to Berkeley as well, got 2 HH's, 1 H, and 1 P. Oddly, the class I thought I was going to do the best in was the one in which I got a P. Between going through OCI and adjusting to a new school, I was pleasantly surprised with how my grades turned out.Anonymous User wrote:Transferred from T2 to Berkeley.

Old School: T30. Rank/GPA: top 5%/3.9.
New School: NYU. GPA 3.585.
Anyone within any insights into the curve at NYU give me an idea what my rank is Approximately?

Got my last grade and it was an A. So now my GPA is a 3.89. Any guesses? I'm talking very approximate would be fine.Anonymous User wrote:Does this breakdown help in figuring out an approx. rank? GPA = 3.85. Oh, btw, it looks like the curve is actually a 3.4 and not a 3.3, but I am no stats guy, that's for sure. Thanks.
A At least 5% and less than or equal to 15% 4.0
A- At least 20% minus (% given A) and less than or equal to 40% minus (% given A) 3.7

B % Discretionary. 3.0

Old School: TTT, top 5%
New School: t10, somewhere between top 1/3 and top 20%ish
It sucks not having published ranks but I couldn't be happier with how the new school grades came out. With OCI, moving, etc. I def felt like I wasn't as on point as I was 1L year but no complaints with the end result. Also my new school estimate is just that, an estimate and it likely on the conservative side.

Re: New 2L Transfer Grades (w/ anon)
Old School: ~10-15% at a 60-70s TT
New School: medianpwned at a T20
I missed about 3.5 weeks at the beginning of the semester (30+ screening interviews, 12 callbacks, from LA to NYC, etc...). I wasn't caught-up with reading assignments until Thanksgiving, and didn't really get started on studying for finals until about 4 or 5 days before my first exam. I guess medianpwnage in that instance isn't too bad, but I fully accept my TTTT performance this semester. Needless to say, I'll be gunning my face off this semester AND during 3L so I don't get no-offered at my SA this summer and/or have an outside shot at a clerkship later in my career. Magna cum laude or DIE.
