Most of the high-end left-leaning PI places are much harder to get than their counterparts on the right, I think, because of the volume of liberal law students compared to conservatives. I'm going to one of the top conservative/libertarian PI firms after one year clerking. I was top 10%-ish and on LR at a T25, but not anything like the people I know who are going for ACLU and similar jobs in liberal organizations.
