I wish we could start to get to know people in our summer classes now - but I completely understand why we need to keep it anonymous. Just sucks - I'd love to start chatting with people and finding out their housing plans, etc.

I agree... When can we start disclosing it? I am just curious because I would also like to start chatting with others in the summer class.

Kind of insensitive considering that many people are waiting to hear back, maybe we could save that chat for late October.

Has anyone been rejected?

Rejected by snail mail. Letter arrived approx 1 week after my callback. I was told the same deal with the hiring partner being out of town.

2L T14 transfer. Top 5-10% of my class at my old school.

Sorry - didn't mean to be insensitive. Just really excited about meeting people from other law schools. We'll postpone this talk until later in the semester.....maybe we can revive this thread then. Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

Does anyone know of non-SA 3Ls with offers? I heard they were hiring for permanent positions too, but it may be a myth.

I got a non-SA 3L offer. Last I heard they'd gotten accepted offers for at least 11-12 of the 15 they're planning on hiring, and that was at least a week ago. I think by now our class is likely full.

Anyone know what the size of the class is this year??

Not sure on their 2011 class size; Chambers says they had 16 in 2010 but NALP says 38 (that must be 2009 numbers). Anyone have a sense of their 2011 class size? Is that 15 number above accurate? Seems small.

I think 16 was in 2009, 38 was in 2010 - I might be wrong. Anyone else know?

last year's (this past summer) class was about half of their normal, around 18. I believe this year they are looking to have about 30 to 35 summers, so standard relative to all years but last year. They are also hiring about 15 3L's to make up for their smaller 2010 summer class. They had a good year, paid a special bonus etc.

They had 16 this past summer. Typically have about 30, and I think they are looking to return to that number

Don't think their offer class is filled up yet; I had a callback the week before the dude who said he was rejected, and I've heard nothing but silence. There's gotta be some sort of hold out there.

I did the same -- it feels weird to reject offers quickly, but I have friends who are waiting and don't want to waste anybody's time. Hope it helps someone....

CB mid sept, callback week later. Stats: regional mid-level NY school, top 5%, LR, Mt Ct, experience in firm before law school. Still going on CBs, so I wont know about accept/reject for a couple weeks. Sorry - I will accept/reject as soon as I know for sure to help some of you waiting for that bump.

I didn't turn down my offer because I didn't like them. I think it would be a good place to work, but I have other options I am more interested in, and wanted to w/d as quickly as possibly to give others a chance. I am deciding between a V15 and a V5 firm.

The only thing that made me a little hesitant is that I want to do corporate and they are fairly specialized... the majority of their corporate work is in high yield offerings. they are the ebst at it but I don't know for certain that that is what I want to do. Other than that, I liked the idea of the free market system where you can really figure out what you want to do. Every corp partner I met with started out wanting to be a litigator and the litigation partner I met with started out wanting to do corporate. One of my big fears is going to a firm where I don't have the opportunity to figure that out.

Same here. If you want to do litigation or high yields, and like a free market system, you'll probably love it there. All the associates I spoke to seemed to really enjoy their work.
