School range: T50
Markets: California, DC
Approx. class rank: Top 40%ish
Law Review: secondary journal
Work experience: Several years of engineering experience
IP Background: Yes, MS Electrical Engineering
Self-assessed interview ability: 8 if the interviewers are outgoing, 6 if they are introverted
Screening interviews: 10
Callbacks received: 0
Massmails: 30ish

I'm disappointed that OCI didn't result in any callbacks even though many of my interviews went extremely well. I'm currently talking to some firms that I contacted outside of OCI, but no offers yet.

School range: Lower T-14
Markets: DC only
Approx. class rank: Top 25-30%
Law Review: secondary journal
Work experience: Yes, 3-4 yrs.
IP Background: Absolutely not
Self-assessed interview ability: 5. I'm not very polished.
Screening interviews: 15 (all DC) (8 through lottery; others through mass-mails before OCI)
Mass mails: Basically every other firm in DC except for the 8 I got in the lottery. Got several screeners this way through firms already at my school for OCI.
Callbacks received: 4 (1 v20, 1 NJ250, 2 V100s)
Callbacks accepted: 4
Offers: Accepted v100 that was my first choice. Didn't wait to hear from the others, withdrew faster than you can say "resume drop." No idea how I would have done... probably not well.

General comments: DC was rough. I'm lucky to get what I did. If you aren't top 15% on LR (even that's not a guarantee) and have the option to explore other markets, I recommend it. It's not to say you couldn't pull something off...there are always exceptions...it's just about hedging your bets. Small DC classes.

the problem with saying "8 if interviewers are outgoing" is that if the interviewer is outgoing, usually everyone has good interviews with them. so while you're 8 may appear to be above average, really everyone probably had an 8 or 9 interview with them. this occurred to me recently as i was wondering why i wasnt getting callbacks with people i hit it off with. then i realized those pple were really outgoing and friendly and thus probably hit it off with almost everyone. just something to think about and why i think you can't really self assess your interviewing abilities as its all relative.

+100. I thought I had a phenomenal interview with a firm that I was well qualified for grade-wise, and then realized after talking to people that the interviewer was just wonderful and everyone loved her. Made me a bit less surprised when I didn't get a CB.

observations:

1. the TLS crowd seems to be pretty smart

2. OCI this year does not seem like a total bloodbath, certainly better then I expected

This thread could be called "post here to brag about OCI" and it would be more apt. You're getting an extraordinarily unrepresentative sample ITT.

The posts here tend to be ppl who've been doing well, because if you haven't been doing well, your results probably aren't final yet. So in sum, there is no hope for most people.
