thoughts about Hogan Lovells?
What do people think about this firm? I know all about the May 2010 merger, am familiar with Lovells reputation in Europe but less familiar with Hogan's reputation in the States. It seems to have a lifestyle-firm vibe; the people were all cool at my call back. Just wondering how its perceived relative to the rest of the V10-V30. Thoughts?

Re: thoughts about Hogan Lovells?
I'm personally a big fan of the firm. Hogan is known for being a touch more lifestyle-y (but it is still biglaw mind you) and has strong practice groups in the DC office. It's got the strongest corporate group out of the native DC firms.
As an aside, comparing DC firms by Vault ranking is kind of silly. Hogan is ranked 30 or something like that on Vault, but it's as selective as some ~V10 firms (Weil, Skadden, Kirkland). It's telling that two of the most selective firms in the country (W&C and Covington) are at the tail end of the V10.

interesting...what about the New York office? Is it considered 2nd or 3rd tier given the firm's DC roots?

I don't know much about their NY office, other than it's not in the upper echelon of firms in NY the way their DC office is in DC.Anonymous User wrote:interesting...what about the New York office? Is it considered 2nd or 3rd tier given the firm's DC roots?

ray, what about hogan's ITC practice? do you know who the big dog is in DC for ITC? What about Irell-LA for big-gov later on? Basically, which IP firm is best for big-gov in 3 years, I'm going to assume they're ALL gonna be DC firms, but could be wrong.

Support for your argument? Justification for Anon use?Anonymous User wrote:Hogan Lovells is TTT. Avoid.
Hogan is a Vault 100 firm and maybe pays market (not sure).
Compared to flipping burgers, or doc review, Hogan is gold.

Anyone interview in NY? There is almost no news on them it would be great if people would share.

I worked last summer with a former Hogan Hartson NY associate. He said he liked the firm when he was there, but warned me to stay away because of the merger.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone interview in NY? There is almost no news on them it would be great if people would share.

Re: thoughts about Hogan Lovells?
Someone shared this same concern with me as well. They left hogan lovells because they didn't want to have "two bosses" due to the merger. Still, wanted to know where people stood with offers and cb's for the NY firm.
