Anyone had any luck with IP firms there when you had no ties whatsoever?

Assume non Stanford/Boalt t14.

I snagged an offer for IP work in SoCal from MVP without any ties to CA. I can't imagine it's too different up north. Just make sure you have good reasons for wanting to be in the area.
