"Ties" to DC?

At a couple DC callbacks I've been asked "so, do you think you might want to go back to [hometown] in a few years?" I think as long as you show that you're committed to staying in DC, you'll be fine. Firms don't want to hire someone who will move away in three years.

With regard to ties, they are certainly not necessary, but if you have no ties to DC, you need a believable reason for wanting to be there, since you can't just say "it's where I grew up, my family is there, etc."
