People need to calm down and be patient. I think we won't know if this was a bloodbath until we are through. Also, bidding conservatively helps with the number of callbacks. Don't overbid your grades, young 1Ls.
I agree. I'm the 179 horror story above, but I talked to an OCS Counselor today. She told me that these Chicago firms have really bought into hiring in waves. As long as you don't get dinged, you're on a waitlist somewhere. The people who are swimming in CBs can't accept all those jobs. The conservative Chicago hiring process is just very stressful and it seems like we're all stuck in No Man's Land.

What does that mean? Can we expect to be getting CB in October then after people have received offers, waited around a bit, and then rejected? I wonder if this applies to NY as well

Yes, that's what it means.

I got the sense it doesn't apply to NYC as much, but as long as you didn't get dinged, they're still considering you.

Things really seem to suck in New York for the median crowd. I really hope they are doing waves as well.

mid 178's are doing no better in NY. I have heard that DC is just terrible. Although if firms are doing multiple rounds of callbacks who knows

nice, I wonder if the fact that there are fewer people targeting that market actually -- as OCS says -- promotes greater success for all of us

Paul Weiss extended at least one CB offer at the initial interview today, and an invitation to a dinner tonight (which I presume more students will be at).

Has it been determined whether K&E have given callbacks to anyone who interviewed with S & D? I haven't heard and neither has my law review friend who I'm sure is killing his interviews.

+1

I liked those guys, really one of the most enjoyable interviews. I hope that no news is good news.

Can someone who went to the diner confirm that Paul Weiss CBs are done? How many were there?

Not sure if they are "done", but there were about 15 students.
