4 snail mails rejections in a day from NYC firms that have done CBs. Ouch.

So long as NYC is concerned, I don't think there will be a second wave of CBs - all the mystical holds are just belated dings.

Yeah, I never really held much hope for a second wave of CBs.

As for me, Fried Frank NYC snail ding today. The floodgates have opened.

Did anyone else get that PH (NY) email today? If you know what email I'm referring to, do you think we are on the wrong listserv? It seems like the email is targeted towards current employees. I haven't heard back from PH one way or the other, but I am pretty sure the silence equates to a ding because others got callbacks during the week of OCI.

Also, because I haven't heard back one way or the other, should I bother writing HR to request an interview if I am in NY for other callbacks? (Or is this probably a waste of time?)

Did you already finish callbacks? Many people I've spoken to haven't even started callbacks.

I haven't even started callbacks, personally.

Does anyone know if OCS has information on callback/offer ratio like all other schools seem to have from last year?

OCS doesn't, unfortunately.

Does anyone else get the impression that DC is particularly hyper-competitive this year? I've only heard of maybe 2 or 3 people getting single callbacks in the DC market for folks who are definitely top 20-25% of the class...

I haven't spoken to many people who bid on DC, but my friend got 3 callbacks in DC with outside top 1/3 grades. He is a good interviewer though.

Ouch. Maybe I really am a horribly off-putting and socially inept interviewer.... :(

It really depends on the firm and their GPA cut-offs. (I'm not sure which firms he bid on.)

Would you guys schedule callbacks on three consecutive days? Or is that too tiring?

I assume that they are all in the same area and not a commute?

One thing I liked about OCI was the consecutive days. I became more comfortable and interviewed better on the last couple days. So, I think I would take the back-to-back scheduling.

If, on the other hand, you found OCI tiring, then the consecutive days would probably be bothersome.

Yes, all in the same city, but I'd have to fly out to interview in another city afterwards, so I guess it would be 4 interviews during 4 days. I'm leaning towards not scheduling them together because I think I'd be tired, but do you think it's worth it if the next available callback date is 1-2 weeks later? (Basically, would I be screwed if firms are giving rolling offers?)

Anyone get dings from:

K&E
Sonnenschein
Vedder Price
Ropes & Gray

(All Chi)

I realize not hearing is not a good sign, but just wondering where the dings are

I would actually recommend scheduling them back-to-back. When you travel to the callback the day before, you may not get in until late - planes and trains get delayed, traffic can be worse than expected, etc. This may be tiring and may not leave with you much time to prepare. By contrast, if you have several callbacks in a row, you'll always have a lot of free time to rest and prepare for the callbacks after your first.

How long after a callback before offers are given from DC? Do offers come by mail or phone?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
